“New Year, New Me”

In the Greek language: gignesthai (γίνεσθαι) means “to become” or “to come into being.” This word encapsulates the essence of transformation—it isn’t merely about starting something new but about the ongoing process of becoming, growing, and evolving into something better. Ancient Greek philosophy used gignesthai to describe a state of change, development, or growth—a movement from one state of being to another.

For the believer, this idea of becoming is deeply tied to our relationship with God and His work. This transformation is not a one-time event but a lifelong journey. The beauty of new beginnings is that they are not just about turning a page or starting over; they are about becoming—becoming who God designed us to be—alive in Christ, renewed by the Holy Spirit, and empowered to live out His purpose for our lives.
